What is LTE?

LTE means Long Term Evolution.   A simple name for a complex technology.

LTE is a technology, not a frequency.  Currently, Verizon operates its legacy networks (CDMA) in the 850Mhz and 1900Mhz range.  Generally speaking a current 4G cellphone (iPhone 5 for example) has three radios in it.  One to operated the voice network, one to operated the 3G network, and one to operate the newest LTE network, which is in the newest 700Mhz network.
